No longer is West Hartford just content with a plain old school superintendent: They want a Leader. Enter the Leadership Planning Committee comprised of 23 other leaders.
1. Bruce Putterman
2. Jack Darcey
3. Republican member of the Board of Education
4. Town Council appointee
5. Clare Kindall appointee
6. Harry Captain appointee
7. Republican appointee
8. One active principal
9. One retired principal
10. One department supervisor
11. Elementary teacher
12. Middle school teacher
13. High School teacher
14. Non-certified union employee
15. Elementary parent
16. Middle school parent
17. High school parent
18. PTO / PTA rep
19. PT Council rep
20. SEPTA rep
21. Empty nester
22. Tim Dunn (as advisor)
23. Rick Ledwith (as advisor)
Maybe one of the "appointees" could include a representative of the West Hartford Taxpayers Association and a representative of one of our Senior Citizen organizations (or is that the empty nester?), as well as the student representative from the Board of Education. Of course it will be incredible, with that amount of people included on this committee, how anything will get done quickly. We hope this doesn't turn into some bureaucratic nightmare. We are also wondering: If Tim Dunn is on this committee - does this mean he cannot be a candidate?
This looks like it'll be a grueling and lengthy process. So it's time to rustle up a posse and ride out into the sunset to lasso one of "them thar" leaders.
(By the way - We just can't wait to see what the starting salary will be for a leader! )
